Excel label printing software
Warehouses, stores, and lines often already keep an Excel list (item, barcode, lot, qty). With Excel label printing software in Luck label software / LuckDesign, that spreadsheet becomes a data source: select rows and batch-print onto label templates—what teams often call Excel label printing or batch labels from Excel.
The label template still lives in the designer (text, barcodes, QR, variables). Excel supplies data—you do not “draw” labels inside cells. Why Excel as data—not layout-in-the-sheet
Many teams still type label content into Excel or Word and print from there: stock size changes break layouts, barcodes fail to scan, and every colleague keeps a different file. A clearer split is one template, data in the sheet—symbology and the template stay in LuckDesign; Excel only holds business columns.
The same template can serve outbound, inventory, shelf labels, and travelers. Change data in the table—do not copy a new “layout workbook” for every operator.
What Excel data-source printing does (LuckDesign)
This is the usual path for Excel label printing: in LuckDesign, open data-source print, select a local Excel (or similar tabular) file, and drive the current template row by row. Files are read and selected on the device—no cloud service required. Install LuckDesign for local printers.
- Read sheets: common .xlsx / .xls (CSV/TXT in the same flow); first row as headers → bindable fields.
- Match variables: text, barcode, and QR objects bind to columns by name; headers must cover required template fields (extras OK; missing columns block select/print with a clear warning).
- Row selection: check, select-all, or print selection only—fit for batch outbound and order-based runs.
- Preview and search: preview data and label output before print; search large sheets (per current UI).
- Formulas and counters: Excel-like formulas and Luck counters can share the same print context—see Label printing · formulas and Luck counter.
Typical path: design and save a template → open data-source print → pick the Excel file → confirm headers and rows → preview → print.
Excel smart template print
Besides “one Excel file → current template,” you can also use Excel smart template print: match label templates from a spreadsheet column (for example a template name) and batch-print—useful when one file mixes several templates. It is an optional path, not the only one.
Available on Enterprise and LuckNext tiers; sub-accounts usually need template print rights. Entry points and licensing follow the current release and Versions & permissions.
Typical scenarios
- Outbound / inventory: export Excel from WMS or ERP, select this job’s rows, print carton, location, or count labels.
- Retail price labels: import promo price sheets and reprint by row with a shared template and stable barcode size.
- Manufacturing lots: work-order or lot sheets drive travelers and WIP marks with less typing.
- Mixed templates: smart template print matches templates from a column when licensed.
