When a complaint arrives and you need “who printed this,” turn on print history. When the same unique code must not print a second time, turn on scan-dedup. You can enable both. Do not treat one as a substitute for the other.
| Scan-dedup | Print history | |
|---|---|---|
| When | Before Print | After print happens |
| Main problem | Duplicate paper | No trail, reprints without evidence |
| Typical benefit | Drawn from past implementations: 50%–70% less duplicate-code rework | Traceability moves from “ask someone” to “read the record” |
