Asset label printing
Admin, IT, and plant teams often need fixed-asset labels on PCs, instruments, tooling, and office equipment: asset ID, name, department, purchase date, plus a scannable barcode or QR code. - IT asset tags: PCs, monitors, network gear—asset IDs and QR codes for issue and walkthrough scans.
- Equipment nameplate labels: instruments, tooling, production assets—model, serial, owning department.
- Office and admin assets: furniture and office equipment at volume; filter by department or location.
- Reprints before inventory: select ledger rows to replace lost or worn tags without reprinting the whole register.
- Alongside location or spare-part labels: keep separate templates when the plant also prints bin and WIP labels; Excel or business DB can still be shared sources.
What usually goes on the template
- Asset ID and name: fixed layout, filled per row at print time—fewer handwritten errors.
- Barcode / QR: bind content to ledger fields for scanners or phones; see Barcode printing software.
- Department, location, purchase info: pick columns that matter; you do not need every ledger field on the label.
- Company name or logo (optional): consistent look for contractors and auditors.
Excel / ledger mail-merge

Our asset list is in Excel—can we print labels from it? Yes: bind asset ID and name columns to the template and mail-merge by row—see “Excel / ledger mail-merge” above and Excel label printing software.
Does this replace a fixed-asset system or inventory app? No. This page covers identification printing only; cards, depreciation, and inventory tasks stay with your EAM / asset system.
